JW CAT BEHAVIOUR & WELLBEING
Make sense of your cat’s behaviour
Cats are complex, individual and often misunderstood. I help cat parents understand what is happening, why it may be happening, and what practical changes can improve life for the whole household.

What I help with
Behaviour that seems difficult, disruptive or confusing is often a sign that a cat’s needs are not being fully met—or that something in their environment or relationships needs closer attention.
Conflict between cats: tension, chasing, blocking, fighting or one cat becoming withdrawn.
Toileting outside the litter tray: urinating or defecating where they shouldn't.
Fear and anxiety: hiding, nervousness, sensitivity to noise or difficulty coping with change.
Aggression towards people: biting, scratching, swiping or unpredictable behaviour.
Night-time disruption and vocalisation: calling, waking the household or unsettled behaviour at night.
Changes in behaviour: suddenly seeming different, less confident, more reactive or less engaged.
Preventative wellbeing support: helping you improve your cat’s environment and daily life before problems develop.

I don't give cat advice
I help you make sense of your individual cat: their behaviour, communication, needs, relationships and environment. That means looking beyond the behaviour itself. We explore what may be driving it, what your cat could be experiencing and what practical changes are realistic for you.My approach is evidence-informed, compassionate and tailored to the whole household. There is no one-size-fits-all solution and no judgement.
The aim isn't simply to stop a behaviour. It's to understand what is causing it.

About me

I’m a qualified feline behaviourist with an Advanced Diploma in Applied Animal Behaviour (Feline), alongside further study in animal welfare and behaviour through the University of Edinburgh.I work with cat parents in the UK and internationally, helping them better understand their cats and address behaviour concerns with empathy, curiosity and practical support. My interest in feline behaviour grew from living with cats who were anything but “easy.” Each of them has reinforced the same lesson: behaviour always makes more sense when we take the time to understand the individual cat behind it.

What cat parents say
Real experiences from people I’ve supported.
"James’s gentle guidance and deep understanding of feline behaviour have brought us so much peace. He listened without judgement and offered thoughtful insight into both Snuggles’s world and mine. I’ve learned how to better support her and create an environment where she feels safe. Our bond is now stronger, calmer and filled with more trust."
Snuggle's guardian
"James quickly recognised Harry’s behaviour patterns and understood how best to interact with him. Harry, who usually avoids most people—especially men—felt comfortable enough to nap on his lap. Since following James’s advice, my bond with Harry has deepened and he seems more relaxed around others. James has made a big difference for our whole family."

Tell me about your cat
You do not need to know exactly what kind of support you need. Tell me a little about your cat and what has been happening. I’ll reply by email and, where helpful, offer a free 15-minute introductory call to discuss the next steps.
Send a brief outline of what's happening with your cat and I'll get back to you.
